Upper Dublin, Pennsylvania Real Estate
The history of Upper Dublin, Pennsylvania, goes back to 1864 when Edward Tanner designated his land grant from William Penn as Upper and Lower Dublin. Although the lower section of land was eventually absorbed into Philadelphia, the upper portion continued to exist. In 1701, Upper Dublin Township was established when William Penn required a survey of all townships existing in the Commonwealth. The town was initially settled in 1698, incorporated in 1719, and eventually granted its current status of First Class Township in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania on January 1, 1946. An interesting historical tidbit is that George Washington had his headquarters in the township's Emlen House in 1777 during the Whitemarsh Encampment. The township is home to the excellent Twining Valley Golf Club, which is a tremendous asset to the Upper Dublin real estate. A number of exciting events take place in the township. The town's high school and middle school each offer several performances throughout the year, including musicals and drama club productions. A highlight of the summer is always the free Sunday evening concert series that runs from early July to mid August. Residents bring along their own lawn chairs and blankets to relax while listening to some great entertainment. All ages are welcome to the concerts, and they are both smoke and pet free performances. In addition, the town puts on a triathlon in May, where nearly 400 athletes participate and raise money for various community organizations. Other special events throughout the year include a Parks to Pavement 4 Miler, Holiday Ornament Contest, the Grand Gala grandparents and grandkids dance, a Fall flea market and more. Information about all of the special events in town can be found at http://www.upperdublin.net/departments/parks/programsguide.aspx.
