It wasn't until 1840 that the town was renamed to what it is today, largely due to the historical inn of the same name. Today, the town is known as one of the best places to live; not only in the state, but in the whole of the U.S., mainly due to its large and ornate houses, as well as its numerous parks and shopping districts. There is an enchanting museum in the town, known as the Wissahickon Valley Historical Society, that houses a large collection of memorabilia from the interesting history of this town.
